Fiddle Leaf Fig Care Guide

The Bloom Saloon | Fredericksburg, VA

Care BLUF:

Water needs: Moderate, consistent
Light needs: Bright indirect light
Pet toxicity: Toxic to pets if ingested
Temperature preferences: 65–80°F (18–27°C)

Care Notes:

Fiddle Leaf Fig has a reputation for being “dramatic,” but in reality, it just likes stability. With its large, violin-shaped leaves and sculptural presence, it’s a favorite for bright living rooms and creative spaces. When it’s happy, it’s stunning. When it’s stressed, it communicates loudly.

This plant thrives when you pick a good spot and stick with it. Frequent moving, inconsistent watering, and drafty windows are the biggest reasons Fiddles struggle.

Light & Placement Tips

  • Place near a bright window with filtered light

  • South- or east-facing windows work well

  • Rotate monthly for even growth

  • Avoid dark corners, low light leads to leaf drop.

Watering Tips (The Big One)

Water when the top 2 inches of soil feel dry.
Water thoroughly until excess drains.

Allow soil to dry slightly between waterings.

Common Overwatering Symptoms

  • Yellowing leaves

  • Mushy roots

  • Leaf drop

Common Underwatering Symptoms

  • Crispy edges

  • Drooping leaves

  • Dry, hydrophobic soil.

Bloom Saloon Tips

Once you find a happy spot, don’t keep “testing” new locations. Fiddle Leaf Figs love loyalty.
