Jade Succulent Care Guide

The Bloom Saloon | Fredericksburg, VA

Care BLUF:

Water needs: Low
Light needs: Bright indirect to direct light
Pet toxicity: Toxic to pets if ingested
Temperature preferences: 60–80°F (15–27°C)

Care Notes:

Jade plants are classic, sturdy, and quietly powerful. With thick, glossy leaves and a tree-like shape, they feel timeless and grounding. Jades are slow growers, but with good care, they can live for decades and become true heirloom plants.

They store water in their leaves, which means they would much rather be a little thirsty than overwatered. If you’ve ever loved a plant “too much,” this one is gently asking you to take a step back.

Light & Placement Tips

Jades love bright light.

  • Near a sunny window is ideal

  • A few hours of gentle direct sun is beneficial

  • Low light causes stretching

Rotate monthly for even growth.

Watering Tips

Water only when soil is completely dry.
This is usually every 2–4 weeks.

Water deeply, then let drain fully.

Common Overwatering Symptoms

  • Mushy, translucent leaves

  • Yellowing

  • Leaf drop

  • Soft stems

Common Underwatering Symptoms

  • Wrinkled leaves

  • Shriveled appearance

  • Slower growth

Bloom Saloon Tips

If you’re unsure whether it needs water, it probably doesn’t. Wait another week.
