Maranta Variegated Beauty Kim Care Guide
The Bloom Saloon | Fredericksburg, VA
Care BLUF:
Water needs: Moderate, consistent
Light needs: Medium to bright indirect light
Pet toxicity: Non-toxic to pets
Temperature preferences: 65–80°F (18–27°C)
Care Notes:
Maranta ‘Beauty Kim’ is the bold sibling in the Maranta family. With striking variegation splashed across deep green leaves, it brings personality and movement into any room. This plant is lively, expressive, and just a little bit extra (in the best way).
Because of its variegation, Beauty Kim prefers slightly brighter indirect light than solid green varieties. It’s still approachable and forgiving, but it does best when its basic needs are met consistently.
Light & Placement Tips
Medium to bright indirect light keeps variegation crisp
Avoid direct sun — lighter areas burn easily
Too little light can dull contrast and slow growth
Rotate the pot occasionally to encourage even growth.
Watering Tips (The Big One)
Keep soil lightly and evenly moist.
Water when the top inch of soil feels dry.
Using filtered water helps prevent leaf spotting and edge browning.
Common Overwatering Symptoms
Yellowing leaves
Soft stems
Drooping despite wet soil
Common Underwatering Symptoms
Curling or slightly drooping leaves
Crispy brown edges (especially on lighter variegated areas)
Soil pulling away from the sides of the pot
Underwatering is easier to correct than overwatering, but consistency will keep this plant happiest.
Bloom Saloon Tips
Beauty Kim likes balance. Bright light, steady watering, and a little humidity go a long way. If you notice leaf edges crisping, check humidity before adjusting your watering schedule (it’s often the missing piece.)
